ABOUT VON HERTZEN BROTHERS

Von Hertzen Brothers bring their arena sized performance energy back  to Germany in celebration of their new album ‘In Murmuration’.

Brothers Mikko, Jonne and Kie Von Hertzen originally played in their own individual bands before joining together as a family unit in the tour de force that is the Von Hertzen Brothers in 2000. By the time their 2nd album ‘Approach’ (2006) topped the Finnish chart with its blend of progressive guitar driven rock combined with rich layered vocal harmonies, it was obvious that this band was something unique and special.

Since then, they have consistently achieved top 5 albums including 3 number 1’s domestically with ‘Love Remains The Same’ (2008), ‘Stars Aligned’ (2011), ‘Nine Lives’ (2013), ‘New Day Rising’ (2015) ‘War Is Over’ (2017) and ‘Red Alert in the Blue Forest (2022).  Their ability to mould complex arrangements into vivid musical landscapes led to an Emma Award (The Finnish Grammy) and a Progressive Music ‘Anthem of the Year’ Award as well as nominations and plaudits along the way.

Their most recent and ninth album, ‘In Murmuration’ was released in October 2024. In true Von Hertzen Brothers style, this album creatively juxtaposes the band’s previous release. Whilst their imaginative multi-genre hard rock and harmonies remain, the band’s artistic pendulum has swung more towards an air of optimism and renewal. The result is a work filled with big choruses, stadium rock anthems, art-rock with 90s vibes and catchy power-pop.

Von Hertzen Brothers’ ability to mould complex arrangements into vivid musical landscapes led to an Emma Award (The Finnish equivalent of a Grammy) and a Progressive Music ‘Anthem of the Year’ Award in the UK as well as nominations and plaudits along the way.  In 2022, the epic music video for ‘All of a Sudden, You’re Gone’ which was directed by Kie Von Hertzen won the Audience Award and Best Cinematography at the Finnish Music Video Contest. In 2024 Prog Magazine issued a Von Hertzen Brothers cover edition featuring a collaboration with graphic artist Charlie Adlard (The Walking Dead) and ‘In Murmuration’ made the Classic Rock Magazine Top 20 albums of the year globally.  This success has made them one of the most important rock acts to have emerged from Finland in recent times.

A stunning live force, the band have performed in 22 countries.  In February 2023, the band recorded a live show at their home city venue, Tavastia in Helsinki.  13 songs from this gig were released as a double live album ‘Live at Tavastia’  in February 2024.

The three brothers are joined by one of Finland’s finest drummers Mikko Sirén, previously  known for performing in Finnish metal giants Apocalyptica.  Prolific multi-instrumentalist Markus Pajakkala who performed in the band on their ‘Acoustic Enough’ tour in 2023 completes the Von Hertzen Brothers line-up.

“How on earth isn’t this band playing large arenas?”
Rock n Load

“Are they prog? Are they rock? Are they punk? Are they metal? Yes.  If we don’t know what to call it, let’s call it superb.”
Maximum Volume Music

“With Von Hertzen Brothers on the cusp of greatness, many in the crowd will be able to say in years to come that “I was there” and that moment is coming ever closer. It won’t be long until Von Hertzen Brothers are everyone’s new, favourite band.”
Metal Express Radio

“Get to a gig and see them soon!”
Uber Rock

“The only problem with their genius is that there is only so much of it that can be delivered into a relatively scant 90 minute set.”
PROG Magazine

“Stunning”
Classic Rock Magazine

“I really can’t say enough about them. So go check ’em out if you’ve never heard them. The latest album is a wonderful bit of work.”
Joe Elliott (Def Leppard)

“This entire gig took my breath away. It was a work of art from start to finish and I am truly humbled to have been allowed to witness this.”
